**Cells D8 and D9**: Cell :guilabel:`D8` is missing the absolute reference (`$`) on `G1`; when the formula is dragged to cell :guilabel:`D9`, this creates a referencing error because cell :guilabel:`G2` is empty. As the formulas in the two cells follow the same pattern, they share the same color.

In the example (in which the formulas have been made visible by selecting :menuselection:`View -->` :icon:`fa-eye` :menuselection:`Show --> Formulas` from the menu bar), column :guilabel:`D` contains the amount of commission earned over the first and second quarters. This is calculated by adding the sales of the two quarters, shown in columns :guilabel:`B` and :guilabel:`C`, then multiplying it by the bonus rate in cell :guilabel:`G1`.
